Bathroom Shower

The bathroom shower and the bath are focal points of the bathroom. However, it is the shower, which we use most often. In smaller houses and flats, baths are not even installed. Thus, it is commonly accepted that the bathroom shower is that minimal necessity. If the bathroom shower is so important then it is wise to investigate it a bit closer.

Bathroom Shower Enclosures

There are many enclosures to shape the shower. Almost exclusively, these items are made of glass. The glass panels are held by chrome or plastic skirting. The door is also made of glass and matches the rest of the enclosure. The floor is generally made of plastic.

These days, the bathroom shower floor may have a non-slip coating or protrusions to avoid accidents. Apparently, you can choose other materials for the shower floor. However, the plastic is versatile, durable and easy to clean. There is no ceiling for the bathroom shower. Thus, the glass panels form a wall which completely encloses the sides.

You can choose various sizes and shapes for the bathroom shower. However, the materials to build the bathroom shower are standard. The most stunning designs are half-oval bathroom showers. These products have plenty of space and a good exposure to the bathroom area.

Bathroom Shower Walls

Bathroom shower walls are almost exclusively tiled. Depending on your budget you have a huge selection of materials. Ceramic, porcelain, granite and marble bathroom tiles are all suitable for this application. The slate and limestone are probably not so good for shower walls.

There is a general trend to tile bathroom shower walls with smaller sized tiles. Personally, there is no practical justification for this. Smaller sized tiles need more granter. Tiles are smooth but the granter is porous, allowing mold and dirt to accumulate. What's more, the porous materials are very difficult to clean. Thus, there is no reason to avoid 24 square inches tiles to decorate the walls. The colour is also very important.

However as for the colour, it is better to follow your own instincts rather than to use an artist's opinion. The light green colour gives an impression of calm and nurturing. Blue implies the freshness and coffee shades - the sophistication. Vivid red is for those who want to convey a message of being daring. Finally, the pink is for the ladies.

Bathroom Shower Accessories

In small bathroom showers it is difficult to keep many accessories. One solution is to buy wall mounted baskets for shampoos and cleansers. For the soap there is also a wide selection of wall mounted holders. Generally, showers come with their own soap holder, which is fixed to the wall by the builder.

As for the fixtures, shiny chrome always looks good. The absolute minimum is a shower head which can be regulated in the vertical position. The more sophisticated options include dumper, and dual action shower heads (can provide hand and hand-free operations).
