The current fashion trend is a free standing basin rather than the drop-down model. Personally, the drop-down units look much better and are easier to seal. However, the free-standing basins have that nostalgic retro appeal. The popularity of these units is probably attributed to the quality of bathroom products from the past.

Most bathroom vanity units will have a predefined dimensions for the sink. Any custom changes will add to the cost. Generally, it is cheaper to install the drop-down basins. Also, the free-standing bathroom sinks require a taller faucet. The high profile faucets are generally more expensive. They also have limited designs.
