Bathroom Vanity Units
Bathroom vanity units can cost as little as $100 for the wall mounted sink to as much as $1000 for free-standing high quality vanity cabinet.

Bathroom Vanity Units

Bathroom vanity units form a central point of the bathroom furniture. The idea is to confine the storage of personal items and grooming activities around the same place. Therefore, bathroom vanity units are placed next to bathroom mirrors. Larger bathroom vanity units may also store towels, sheets and even cleaning products.

Bathroom Vanity Unit Cabinets

There are obviously endless choices among vanity products. Even the mass produced bathroom vanity units come in different flavours. You can spend as little as $100 for the wall mounted sink to as much as $1000 for free-standing high quality vanity cabinets. However, it is not only the budget but also space which limits the choice. Generally, bathroom vanity units in the form of cabinets and drawers are very practical. At the same time these products are stylish and good looking.

The most optimal design is the main bathroom cabinet surrounded by smaller drawers. Some bathroom vanity units offer an inexpensive "bottle rug" grids where you can fold towels. Others have array of drawers next to the much larger cabinet. Shelves in the bathroom vanity units are also popular and cost-effective. Most bathroom vanity units come with 2 basins. This is important from obvious reasons.

Bathroom Vanity Units with Framed Sink

The framed sink is a method to build a cost-effective piece of furniture around wall mounted, counter or pedestal sink. It is not a full blown vanity unit but a affordable imitation of the vanity cabinet functionality. The counter sinks are usually enclosed around the width and the height of the counter. The much more narrower pedestal sinks have a little scope to use their natural dimensions. In this case, the frame is enlarged beyond the dimensions of the basin. Most of these vanity units can be DIY or purchased in flat packs.

Bathroom Vanity Units with Drop-Down vs Free-Standing Basins

The current fashion trend is a free standing basin rather than the drop-down model. Personally, the drop-down units look much better and are easier to seal. However, the free-standing basins have that nostalgic retro appeal. The popularity of these units is probably attributed to the quality of bathroom products from the past.

Most bathroom vanity units will have a predefined dimensions for the sink. Any custom changes will add to the cost. Generally, it is cheaper to install the drop-down basins. Also, the free-standing bathroom sinks require a taller faucet. The high profile faucets are generally more expensive. They also have limited designs.
