Benefit of Sauna
Benefits of sauna are not completely proven by the science.
Generally, it is good to be skeptical about the principles of the alternative medicine.
The whole idea that garlic, ginger and lemon will cure everything is simply ridiculous.
The new gadgets which provide quick and easy solution to your back problem are an utter nonsense.
The weight loss devices further add to the list of the rip-off items.
However, even though something is not completely proven it does not mean that there are no benefits.
Saunas are those inventions which are recommended by doctors but the benefits of sauna are not completely proven by the science.
There are numerous medical articles about benefits of steam but these are not directly attributed to saunas.
However, 7000 years of saunas existence is a good statistical measure to appreciate the benefits of these facilities.
Benefit of Sauna Is In The Heat and Steam
The benefit of sauna is in the heat and steam. The medical establishment agrees that people should sweat profusely at least once a day. The sweating somehow conditions the body much the same way as the exercise. It also provides the body with a short fever which induces immunity to sickness. It is this last benefit of sauna, which made the Finns say that the sauna is the poor man's doctor. And 7000 years seems to be a good prove for this statement.
Benefit of Sauna Is To Detoxify The Body
The increased temperatures kill microorganisms. The sweating gets rid of the dead bacteria and viruses. This is the principal way in which the detoxification works. The process does not only kill germs, gets rid of them but also cleanses the skin. This is the reason why young people working in the steamy environments do not have pimples.
Benefit of Sauna for Circulation
The circulation does improve after few sauna sessions. Unfortunately, the mechanism for the improved circulation is not exactly known. Doctors believe that heat naturally dilates the blood vessels. This leads to improved oxygenation and better skin nutrition. However, heart patients have to be careful. The optimal sauna temperature for them is about 60 degrees of Celsius (not 100). Thus, people with the heart condition should use infrared saunas.
Benefit of Sauna for The Weight Loss
The weight loss is the benefit of sauna already approved by the medical establishment. When you sweat your metabolism increases which in turn burns the fat to utilise the energy. This way you can significantly reduce your weight using multiple sauna sessions. However, there is more to weight loss than the mere fat. Regular exercises are better option but do require commitment. Saunas on the other hand are great social events.
