Home Saunas
Home saunas for some people seems to be a mysterious Scandinavian relaxation and recuperation technique.
For others, it is a shear fun. Why do we need home saunas?
It is true that in Scandinavia, Northern Russia, Germany and even Serbia and Slovenia the concept has been embraced for hundreds of years.
However, home saunas are not that distant from your nearby sports facilities.
More and more communal sports centers and swimming clubs incorporate saunas into their business.
Some sport centers insist to have a separate membership to use the sauna.
Thus, it means that there is a lot of enthusiasts who are prepared to pay extra fees to use these facilities.
Home Saunas Mechanism
Home saunas are sometimes called steam rooms.
The two concepts are not exactly the same but both use heat to cleanse the body.
Australian market for home saunas has rapidly increased its popularity.
There could be many reasons: improved Australian economy, multicultural Australian society or a plain awareness towards benefits of sauna.
Generally, home saunas should operate between 40-60 degrees of Celsius.
For the low humidity, you can crank up to 100 degrees of Celsius without damaging the human skin.
The main idea of home saunas is to sweat. Thus for high humidity, the temperatures should not increase above 60 degrees of Celsius.
It is often impractical for city dwellers to have a typical Scandinavian sauna.
However, there are kit saunas and modified steam rooms which can be ordered from local distributors.
In other words, there is a way for you to steam your skin even though your are thousands of kilometers from Helsinki.
Home Saunas - The Kits
The sauna kits are probably the best suited to the Australian culture.
These are often easy to install cubicles which arrive with all the necessary accessories.
All you need is to assemble the structure, much the same way as you would put together a shack.
There are few sizes and heater options to choose from.
For 1.1 meter by 1.1 meter cubicle you will need a heater of 3 kW.
For 2.35 square meters kit you will require a 4.5 kW sauna heater.
6 kW of heat are for the prestigious 3.0 square meter cubicle.
Thus, not only the size of the sauna but also size-dependant accessories will hit your pocket.
However, despite extra costs, you will need to ensure how many people will need the facility at one time before ordering the unit.
Home Saunas - Built in Steam Rooms
You can order a home sauna to be incorporated into your house. There are contractors who will assemble the entire unit with all accessories inside your home. However, you must bear in mind that these structures are usually regarded as custom made. It will be difficult for you to get an upright quotation without contractor visiting your place. Always take at least 3 quotes before starting this project.
Types of Home Saunas
Basically, there are two types of home saunas:
Infrared Saunas use electromagnetic energy to penetrate skin deeply. This, apparently, purifies the skin better than the conventional steam sauna. Also, infrared home saunas use less electricity and less heat than the steam saunas. However, steam saunas have been operating for 7000 years. This units provide natural way of purifying your body. Some skeptics of infrared saunas argue that it is always better to "cook the meat rather then to microwave it.."
Home Saunas Prices
Home saunas which are designed for a 1 person can cost as little as $1000. A more exclusive version of the 1 person kit can be as high as $1650. A medium range 2 person home sauna costs around $2000. Good infrared units can reach $4300. However, you can get good online specials for new saunas (30% discounts are not uncommon).
