Small Bathroom
The small bathroom can be a real bummer.
It can also freak the "Missus" of the house.
The main reason is a clutter and lack of a functional space.
The other, could be that your wife hates the toilet seat left open... (but that is another story).
There is very little you can do to change the size of your bathroom.
Unless, you have $40K-$70K to spare the small bathroom is not going to grow.
However, there are cheaper options to improve the esthetics and the functionality of this space.
Small Bathroom Accessories
The small bathroom needs unobstructive bathroom accessories.
Pedestal, counter and wall mounted sinks - all save the space underneath.
The alternative are basins mounted on bathroom cabinets.
In this case the space underneath is enclosed by the bathroom furniture unit.
All small bathroom accessories should be mounted on the wall.
Soap, shampoo and cream dispensers save space when placed on the wall mounted racks.
Mirrors can be large.
Even if the width of the mirror extends the with of the counter, you should not trim its width.
All reflective items provide illusion of a spaciousness.
Thus, mirrors and mirror cabinets are perfect to enhance the impression of the bigger size.
Small Bathroom Tiles
Great bathroom tiles is the area where you should invest your budget.
You do not need an expensive marble.
However, well polished granite for the walls and honed granite on the bathroom floors will certainly enhance your bathroom.
Walls and floors should be matched with the same material (but not necessary the same colour).
Lighter bathroom tiles are the must for a small bathroom.
However, white is not always a good idea.
Light beige, brown even marble grey are suitable for small spaces.
Vivid colours are also acceptable but in neutral versions.
Personally, slate tiles will not work well here.
This material implies the sturdiness and strength rather than the space.
What's more the slate tiles are brittle.
Small bathrooms force inhabitants to put more pressure per unit tile.
This exposes the slate material to more mechanical stresses and reduces its durability.
Small Bathroom Fixtures
Generally, you can do very little to arrange your bath or shower to hide plumbing (unless you have some decent cash to spare).
However, you can cover the exposed plumbing by contracting a company or DIY method.
For larger bathrooms, the exposed plumbing is less obvious.
In smaller ones, all those pipes can be frustrating.
Bathroom renovators can hide the plumbing with a matching wooden board, tiling and/or rendering.
In fact, the rendering uses wood as the substrate and it is a natural choice to perform the task.
It is not very expensive to suppress the unwanted plumbing.
About $800 is needed for an average small bathroom to neatly complete this work.
